  • PB Studio’s Brand Identity for Sing Sync: A Case Study

    There's nothing quite like the sound of voices coming together in harmony, a shared purpose that dissolves barriers and makes magic. When 'Visual' in Carlow received funding from Creative Ireland to launch a public choir, they approached us at PB Studio to help birth a brand that would encapsulate their vision.

    The brief was clear: Visual wanted to distance their public choir from the traditional, sometimes stifling, stigmas attached to the word ‘choir’. They wanted something approachable, fun, inclusive. They wanted a name and identity that was catchy, easy to remember, and reflected the essence of their choir.

    The Power of Naming

    Naming, for us, is an art and a science. With this particular project, we understood that the name had to be immediate. It had to be memorable. It had to capture the essence of the choir in an instant. So, we targeted names that were two syllables – the rationale being that they are easy to recall and chant. After extensive brainstorming and refinement, we coined ‘Sing Sync’. Not only did the name have the two-syllable criteria we were aiming for, but it also echoed the synchronicity and unity the choir represented.

    Crafting the Brand Identity

    With 'Sing Sync' as our north star, we moved onto the visual identity. We developed a brand mark that was playful yet structured, reflecting the balance of fun and discipline in choral singing. Vibrant colours and dynamic shapes worked together to produce a logo that was both modern and timeless. We wanted anyone, irrespective of their age or musical background, to look at the logo and feel that this was a choir they could join and have fun with.

    Our brand identity extended across various platforms. For social media, we produced templates that allowed for consistency yet flexibility. Given the dynamic nature of platforms like Instagram and Twitter, the templates were designed to be easily adjustable to varying content – from event announcements to member spotlights.

    For their web presence, we carefully designed UX content that made user navigation seamless. Potential members could easily find information on how to join, while existing members had quick access to practice schedules, events, and other essential details.

    Lastly, print promo material. In today's digital age, the tangibility of a beautifully designed brochure or poster is unmatched. We took care to ensure that the brand's essence was captured in every piece we designed, from vibrant posters announcing upcoming performances to informational brochures that spoke to the choir's core values.

    The Outcome

    The impact was immediate. 'Sing Sync' received an overwhelming response from potential members. The feedback was consistent – the name 'Sing Sync' was catchy, memorable, and encapsulated the essence of the choir.

    To conclude, our collaboration with 'Visual' was more than just a branding project. It was an exercise in understanding the pulse of a community, the rhythm of their aspirations, and translating it into a brand that resonates. At PB Studio, we are proud to have played a part in the birth and growth of 'Sing Sync', a choir that, in every sense, sings from the same hymn sheet.
