Act, Belong, Commit

PB Studio partnered with CYPSC and Tusla in Kilkenny to deliver Act, Belong, Commit, a youth led project connected to a nationally licensed mental health initiative originally developed in Australia. Working closely with Comhairle na nÓg Kilkenny, we designed and facilitated a series of creative workshops that empowered young people to shape the local brand identity and messaging for the campaign, while learning practical creative and wellbeing skills along the way.

    • Designed a youth-led creative programme aligned with the nationally licensed Act, Belong, Commit framework

    • Planned and facilitated hands-on workshops with Comhairle na nÓg Kilkenny

    • Guided participants through breaking down Act, Belong, and Commit into personal meaning and visual ideas

    • Enabled young people to translate thoughts, emotions, and lived experience into physical cut-out visuals

    • Synthesised participant-created material into a refined and professional brand identity

    • Delivered a final brand mark and visual system that preserved the integrity of youth input

    • Designed and facilitated a second workshop focused on campaign messaging development

    • Taught participants how to facilitate the workshop themselves with a larger group

    • Embedded practical wellbeing learning, including reframing negative thoughts into positive action

    • Supported delivery at a national youth conference

    • Balanced national campaign consistency with local relevance and authenticity

  • Case Study: Act, Belong, Commit

Designing, Facilitating, and Delivering a Youth Led Mental Health Campaign

    The Challenge

Act, Belong, Commit is an internationally recognised mental health framework that originated in Australia and has since been licensed for national use in Ireland. The campaign encourages young people to actively protect their mental health, feel a sense of belonging, and commit to positive habits with purpose.

CYPSC and Tusla wanted the Kilkenny activation of the campaign to be genuinely youth led, ensuring the framework felt relevant to young people locally rather than imposed from above.

The challenge was to create a process that:

    • Gave young people real ownership of the campaign identity and messaging

    • Respected the integrity of a nationally licensed framework

    • Preserved the authenticity of participant voices

    • Delivered a professional and usable brand outcome

    • Embedded learning, confidence, and wellbeing skills into the process

    The Solution

PB Studio designed and facilitated a two phase creative programme that balanced national structure with local voice.

    Phase One: Brand Identity Workshops

We worked directly with Comhairle na nÓg Kilkenny through a series of hands on workshops focused on unpacking the meaning of Act, Belong, and Commit within the young people’s own lives.

    Participants:

    • Explored what each word meant to them personally

    • Translated thoughts and feelings into symbols and visual ideas

    • Created cut out visuals and physical compositions

    • Collaboratively refined ideas into a shared visual direction

From this work, PB Studio designed and delivered a final brand mark and identity that aligned with the national Act, Belong, Commit framework while remaining rooted in the ideas generated by the group.

Phase Two: Messaging and Facilitation Workshop

Following the success of the identity workshops, we were invited to design and deliver a second workshop for a national youth conference.

    This session focused on:

    • Developing campaign messaging that reframed negative thoughts into positive, action focused language

    • Teaching Comhairle na nÓg members how to facilitate the workshop themselves with a larger group

The workshop design not only produced strong campaign messaging but also gave participants facilitation skills they could reuse in future settings, extending the impact beyond a single event.

    The Results

The project was praised for balancing national consistency with local authenticity. Feedback from CYPSC and Tusla highlighted PB Studio’s ability to design the programme, facilitate meaningful engagement with young people, and deliver a polished brand outcome without losing the integrity of participant input.

    Key outcomes include:

    • A locally relevant brand identity aligned with a national campaign

    • Youth led messaging grounded in lived experience

    • Increased confidence and facilitation skills among participants

    • Strong engagement at a national youth conference

    • A scalable model for future regional activations

    Key Takeaway

Act, Belong, Commit in Kilkenny demonstrates PB Studio’s strength in designing creative programmes that respect established frameworks while centring young people’s voices. By designing, facilitating, and delivering the full process, we helped transform a licensed national campaign into a meaningful local movement.
